We follow this spirited man through his attempts to join up, the many different tasks a soldier was required to do, his run-ins with those in authority, experience of trenches and batteries, several narrow escapes, gas attacks, his great moment of single-handed gunnery, and hospitalizations towards the end of the war.
With his outspoken attitude and challenging mind, it is, perhaps, not that surprising that when demobilized, he was still ‘Gunner Wright’.
